Monkey soldiers gather around wounded Laksman in forest (Thai Ramayana mural)
Rama's brother Laksman lies wounded by a poisoned spear, as seen in a mural at the Emerald Buddha Temple.
Dressed in royal Siamese clothes and crown, Laksman lies on his side upon a golden mat, propped up on his right elbow. Ravana's poisoned spear sticks out of his chest. Rama (atypically painted here with brown skin) kneels behind Laksman with his right hand to his face, apparently distraught. Monkey kings and other courtiers kneel nearby in two groups as they witness the tragedy of Laksman's mortal wound. Some cover their eyes from the distressing sight while others discuss what they should do to save Laksman.
