Demon climbs over a walled palace gate (Thai Ramayana mural)

A large green demon climbs over a walled gate, as depicted on a mural at the Emerald Buddha Temple. The demon dressed in royal gold Siamese clothes plants his left foot and left hand powerfully on a stone gateway and wooden door to push them into the walled compound. The demon wears a tall headdress, sarong, and jewelry painted in gold leaf, and he holds a sword in his right hand. As the doorway into the compound starts to break and fall inward, residents inside flee in terror. Some people already lie injured and fallen outside the city walls. One person in simple commoner's clothes appears to lie crushed under the demon's bare right foot.

This scene takes place during one of the many battles fought between Rama's army and Ravana's demons on the island of Lanka.
