Lenox Castle | former resort in SE Rockingham County. A tavern, baths, store, and springs made it a popular spa; probably operated prior to 1800, but flourished from 1803 until after 1844. Named for John Lenox, who advertised his tavern as "The Castle of Thundertontrenck" in 1804. A post office as late as 1882. |

Lenoxville | a proposed town chartered in 1816 to be laid out on the lands of James McKinlay in S Carteret County E of Beaufort at present-day Lenox Point. Apparently it was never developed. A contemporary manuscript map of Lenoxville is in the North Carolina Collection, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. |
